|
New York pitcher Mark Clark gave the Twins all they could handle, but in the end, Minnesota left Yankee Stadium with a 4-3 win. Clark allowed no earned runs on 5 hits over 8 innings. Minnesota reliever Jerry Spradlin picked up the win, upping his record to 5-5. Lee Smith was saddled with the loss. The Twins, now 65-66, have won 4 in a row.
The most important at-bat for Minnesota came in the top of the ninth inning, when pinch hitter Jeff Stone stroked a 2-1 fastball to right for a run-scoring single, putting Minnesota up, 4-3.
