Blue Jays Lose, 5-2, at Jack Murphy Stadium
|
The San Diego Padres stopped the Toronto Blue Jays, 5-2, behind an impressive performance from Tony Clark. The 24-year old first baseman made life miserable for Toronto pitching. He went 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. San Diego is now 59-72, while Toronto is 75-57.
Wil Cordero aided the San Diego cause with a run-scoring ground out in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the second baseman drove in one run.
"Tony is still learning," said Padres manager Matt Dodds. "The sky's the limit for him."
