Senators Come Up Short at Seattle
|
Edgar Martinez made an impact in the 8-7 Seattle win over Washington. Martinez, who finished 4th in the UL in hits with 178 in 1987, belted 2 home runs. Randy Johnson got the win, improving to 13-5. He worked 5.2 innings, giving up 6 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 10 and walking 6. Seattle is now 70-61, Washington 74-58.
Seattle took a 8-6 lead on Martinez's 26th home run of the season. The solo home run, which he hit off Carlos Perez in the bottom of the seventh, propelled Seattle to the win.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Seattle manager Robert O'Neill.
