Twins Double Up New York, 6-3
|
1996 is shaping up to be a forgettable year for the New York Yankees.
Minnesota starter Hideo Nomo pitched effectively against the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium. The right-hander led his team to a 6-3 win. The last-place Yankees have dropped 5 straight games.
Minnesota used a timely hit from Koji Akiyama to get the win. The left fielder delivered a run-scoring triple in the top of the second inning to put the Twins on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Nothing fazes Hideo," said Minnesota manager Darren Fischbach.
