Dodgers Get Road Win, 5-3
|
The Los Angeles Dodgers got a rather unremarkable outing from starting pitcher Greg Maddux, but it was good enough for the club to take a 5-3 decision over the New York Mets. Rudy Seanez picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 4-1. Scott Garrelts was tagged with the loss. With the win over New York, the Dodgers improved to 64-70.
Los Angeles took a 4-3 lead on Ron Jones's 35th hit of the season. The run-scoring single, which Jones hit in the top of the seventh, left New York pitcher Scott Garrelts shaking his head.
"Nice to put this one in the win column," said Maddux.
