Diamondbacks Win at Montreal, 6-4
|
The Arizona Diamondbacks topped the Montreal Expos by the score of 6-4, with the largest share of the credit going to designated hitter Moises Alou. Alou went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Diamondbacks. Scott Sanders earned the win to go to 12-9. He allowed 4 earned runs on 7 hits, with 4 walks and 5 strikeouts. The first-place Diamondbacks, at 77-56, now lead their division by 6½ games.
The result might have been different for Arizona, had it not been for Delino DeShields. The second baseman produced a 2-run double in the top of the second inning to put the Diamondbacks ahead, 3-0. For the game, DeShields had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Alou told the Arizona Observer.
