Baltimore left fielder Johnny Damon had 3 ribbies while helping his team defeat the Seattle Pilots, 6-4. Dwight Gooden earned the win for Baltimore. He lasted 6.1 innings, allowing 1 earned run on 4 hits, while striking out 7. With the win, he raised his record to 8-14. Baltimore is now 53-80, Seattle 70-62.
Baltimore took a 6-2 lead on Damon's 12th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which he hit off Wally Whitehurst in the top of the seventh, propelled Baltimore to the win.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Damon.
