Royals Bang Out 7-4 Win Versus Texas
|
Texas right fielder Rob Deer was sensational. He was 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Kansas City beat the Rangers, 7-4. Deer was named the player of the game despite the loss. Denny Neagle was the winner. Over 7.1 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 5 hits, with 2 walks and 6 strikeouts. Mike Stanton earned his 37th save in 41 chances.
Kansas City grabbed a 7-3 lead in the bottom of the seventh when Reggie L. Sanders hit a grand slam home run. For the day, Sanders was 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Sanders, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
The first-place Royals have won 5 in a row.
