Orioles Get Close Win Over Senators
|
Bill Spiers had a big hand in Baltimore's 6-5 triumph over Washington. He rattled off 3 hits in 4 at-bats, scoring 3 times and knocking in 1 runs. For his performance, Spiers was named player of the game. Roger McDowell got the save, his 29th in 31 chances. Baltimore is now 70-64, Washington 45-89.
Baltimore took a 6-3 lead on Leo Gomez's 107th hit of the season. The 2-run single, which Gomez hit in the top of the eighth, left Washington pitcher Todd Jones visibly frustrated.
"I felt good up there," said Spiers. "I saw the ball well."
