Grissom Hits 2 home runs in Spiders Win
|
The Cleveland Spiders trumped the New York Yankees, 5-0, at Yankee Stadium. Cleveland center fielder Marquis Grissom was named player of the game for his performance. He was 2-3 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Bob Sebra, the winner, improved to 6-14. He held the Yankees to no earned runs on 3 hits over 8 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 5. The current losing streak for New York has reached 6 games.
Cleveland took a 3-0 lead on Grissom's 19th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which he hit off Brian Bohanon in the top of the sixth, propelled Cleveland to the win.
"We take it day by day here," said Grissom, "and today was a good one for us."
