Milwaukee pitcher Tommy Greene gave the Cubs all they could handle, but in the end, Chicago left Milwaukee County Stadium with a 5-4 win. Greene allowed 4 earned runs on 5 hits over 8 innings. Chicago is now 59-75, while Milwaukee is 78-58.
Chicago took the lead in the top of the seventh. With two out and runners on 1st and 2nd, Jeff Frye stroked a run-scoring single to make it 1-0, Cubs.
