Orioles Come Back Late to Clip Tigers
|
The Baltimore Orioles grabbed a 6-2 win over the Detroit Tigers at Memorial Stadium. Baltimore center fielder Kenny Lofton was 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 to earn player of the game honors. Baltimore reliever Julian Tavarez picked up the win to move to 3-4. Doug Drabek suffered the loss. Even with the win, the Orioles have a dismal 45-88 record.
Leo Gomez wielded some clout for Baltimore. The third baseman had a 3-run home run in the bottom of the eighth for the Orioles. It put his team ahead, 5-2, and sent them on to victory. For the game, Gomez went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Lofton.
