The Oakland Athletics went down to defeat to Greg Maddux and his Los Angeles teammates. The final score was 5-1 in favor of the Dodgers. Los Angeles now sits in first place in the United League West Division at 69-67.

It could have been a different outcome for Los Angeles, had it not been for Brian L Hunter, the former first round draft pick . Hunter contributed a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put Los Angeles up, 3-1.

"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Hunter told the Los Angeles Daily News.
