Yankees Beat Visiting Spiders, 4-3
|
The New York Yankees picked up a win at Yankee Stadium, knocking off the Cleveland Spiders, 4-3. On the mound for New York was right-hander Armando Reynoso, who played a pivotal role in the win. Reynoso picked up the win for New York, going 7 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 7-14. Doug Simons got the save, his 2nd in 5 chances.
Don Mattingly put New York in front, 4-1, when he took Ron Robinson downtown. His 2-run home run came with two out in the bottom of the fifth. It was his 17th home run of the season.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Cleveland skipper Wilson Ogle, "and it cost us."
Even with the win, the Yankees have a dismal 32-102 record.
