Rangers Win in Extras
|
Benefiting from Brian McRae's productive game, the Texas Rangers downed the Chicago Cubs, 8-7. McRae went 3 for 5 with a triple and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Rangers. Texas reliever Jeff Calhoun picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Brian Holman was saddled with the loss. Texas now has a 3-game win streak.
Gerald Young's hit in the top of the tenth was a game-changer. With one out, he rapped a fastball from Frank DiPino for a run-scoring single. It put Texas in front, 8-7.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Young told reporters after the game.
