Cubs Lose to Creams in Walk Off
|
Jeff Cirillo had a good game, but he could not keep the Chicago Cubs from falling, 8-7, to the Milwaukee Creams at Milwaukee County Stadium. The Chicago shortstop was 4 for 4 with 2 doubles, 2 singles, and 2 walks. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2 in the loss. The second-place Creams raised their record to 79-58.
The game was at a stalemate until right fielder John Elway came to bat in the bottom of the 11th. Facing Chicago pitcher Mike Schooler, he hit a first pitch curveball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Milwaukee on top, 8-7.
"Good win for us, tough loss for them," said Elway.
