Expos Slip Past New York, 8-7
The Montreal Expos downed the New York Mets, 8-7, in 10 innings. Matt Williams led the way, going 2-for-4 for Montreal. Montreal reliever Ed Correa picked up the win, upping his record to 6-6. Wayne Edwards shouldered the loss. The first-place Expos, at 88-48, now lead their division by 8½ games.

Montreal used the bat of John Jaha to get the win. The designated hitter hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Expos ahead, 7-5. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it did its damage.

"The name of the game is scoring runs," Jaha said. "We did a good job of that today."
