Beasties Spoil Opening Day for Blue Crabs, Their Fans
The 1997 season began for the Ocean City Blue Crabs with a loss to the Bluff City Beasties at Fire Dogs Ballpark. The final score was 9-4. Bluff City first baseman Paul Sorrento earned top player honors.

It could have been a different outcome for Bluff City, had it not been for Walt McKeel, the 25-year old catcher . McKeel contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put Bluff City up, 4-3.

"The name of the game is scoring runs," McKeel said. "We did a good job of that today."
