Calderon, Cardinals Sink Royals Again in Game 2
|
Riding the 4-hit performance of first baseman Ivan Calderon, the St. Louis Cardinals got a road win against the Kansas City Royals, 7-3, in Game 2 of the Division Series today. Calderon hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the Cardinals, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 2 games to 0.
With no one out in the top of the fifth, Jim Edmonds drilled a 2-run home run to right. It put St. Louis ahead, 4-2. For the game, Edmonds was 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"We aren't quitting," Kansas City manager Daniel Drucker said. "Yeah, the odds are definitely in their favor, but they've got to earn it."
The next game is scheduled for Friday, September 30th, 1994 at Busch Stadium. Slated to start are Kevin Tapani for the Kansas City Royals and Terry Mulholland for the the St. Louis Cardinals.
