Cardinals Win to Extend Series Lead to 3-0
Kansas City shortstop Barry Larkin pounded St. Louis Cardinals pitchers at Busch Stadium, but it was not enough to keep the Royals from falling, 8-7 in Game 3 of the Division Series. Larkin went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once and was named player of the game for his efforts, even as he saw the Royals slip to a 3-0 deficit in the best-of-7 series.

Matt Williams was a prime contributor to the St. Louis win. He was 3-4 with 3 singles. In the bottom of the seventh with two out, the five-time All-Star hit a run-scoring single. It made the score 6-5, in favor of the Cardinals.

"There was a kid in the stands with a sign that said 'St. Louis Cardinals (probably) 1994 World Series Champions'," Williams told reporters after the game. "I told him, 'Premature, but I like the confidence.'"

Game 4 is set to be played tomorrow at Busch Stadium in St. Louis. Slated to start are Rick Reed for the Kansas City Royals and Bill C. Swift for the the St. Louis Cardinals.
