The Columbus Clippers got a stellar performance from pitcher Jeff Pico, who handcuffed the Ocean City offense en route to a 3-2 win at Fire Dogs Ballpark. Doug Simons, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 2nd save. Columbus, now 3-0, is setting the league on fire so far.
Alvaro Espinoza chipped in for Columbus, stroking a crucial 2-run double in the top of the second inning. For the game, the second baseman went 2 for 4 with 2 doubles. He drove in 2 runs.
After the game, Columbus manager applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
