Big Day by Cookson Ignites Cyclones Win
|
The Brooklyn Cyclones beat the Danville Dairy Daddies, 10-6, at Ballpark of Fremont. Brooklyn left fielder Brent Cookson earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He went 3 for 3 with 2 doubles and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. Steve Reed picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Scott Scudder was tagged with the loss. The Cyclones have stumbled out of the gate, getting only their 1st win in 3 games.
With Brooklyn trailing 6-5 in the bottom of the fifth, Cookson hit a fastball from Andrew Lorraine for a 2-run double. It was his 2nd double of the season and put the Cyclones ahead, 7-6.
"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager said.
