Chicago Wins at Home to Narrow Series Deficit to 3-2
|
Teddy Higuera was not ready to let the Division Series end.
With the Chicago Cubs backed into a corner, the left-handed Higuera held off the Orlando Sun Rays. He took player of the game honors after he threw 9 innings of 4-hit ball. The win cuts the series deficit for the Cubs to 3-2 in the best-of-7 series.
Higuera, who was born in Los Mochis, Mexico, threw 134 pitches over 9 innings, while allowing 1 earned run.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Higuera said after the game.
The next game is set to be played Tuesday, October 4th, 1994 at Orlando Citrus Bowl in Orlando. Slated to start are Randy Tomlin for the Chicago Cubs and John Smoltz for the the Orlando Sun Rays.
