Trammell belts 2 home runs, Clippers Move to 2-1
|
The Columbus Clippers trumped the Jacksonville Suns, 7-3, at Field of the Running Rebels. Columbus left fielder Bubba Trammell was named player of the game for his performance. He was 3-4 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. At 2-1, the Clippers have played well so far.
Columbus used the timely hitting of Ed Giovanola to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put the Clippers on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Columbus manager .
