Schilling Handcuffs Expos, Rockies Seize 1-0 Advantage in DS
Curt Schilling and the Colorado Rockies opened the Division Series in brilliant fashion today, traveling to Montreal and shutting out the host Expos at Olympic Stadium 2-0 to secure an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Schilling, the Rockies right-hander, was named player of the game as he threw 8 innings of shutout ball.

In his 113-pitch effort, Schilling allowed no earned runs on 4 hits over 8 innings. He walked 1 and struck out 7.

"At least it was over quickly," Expos manager David Polakoff said. "We'll just have to try our luck again."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow in Montreal. The scheduled starters for the game are Kelly Downs for the Colorado Rockies and Jeff Fassero for the the Montreal Expos.
