Almost There: Colorado On Cusp of DS Triumph After 6-1 Win
|
The Colorado Rockies moved to within one game of the League Championship today, downing the visiting Montreal Expos at Mile High Stadium by a score of 6-1. Rockies right fielder Tim Salmon was named player of the game after he went 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times. The win gives the Rockies a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-7 Division Series.
Salmon had an important at-bat with the bases empty in the bottom of the fourth, when he hit a solo home run. The Rockies went on to win.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Salmon told the Colorado Bulletin.
The next game is scheduled for tomorrow at Mile High Stadium. Slated to start are Pedro Martinez for Montreal and Al Leiter for Colorado.
