Swamp Foxes Get Win, Hope to Turn Around Slow Start
|
Savannah right fielder Jimmy Hurst was instrumental in his team's 8-4 win over the Milwaukee Otters. Hurst went 3-5 with 3 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Swamp Foxes. Angel Miranda, credited with the win, is now 1-0. He allowed 4 runs on 10 hits in 8.2 innings. Jay Powell picked up the save, his 1st.
Andy Sheets had a big 2-run single for the Swamp Foxes in the bottom of the second inning. With Savannah trailing 3-2 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a fastball from Allen Watson and stroked the single to right. It was his 2nd hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Swamp Foxes ahead, 4-3.
"I felt good up there," said Sheets. "I saw the ball well."
Savannah, now 1-2, is off to a slow start.
