Whitaker goes 3-for-4, Otters Move to 3-2
|
With second baseman Lou Whitaker leading the charge, the Milwaukee Otters defeated the Brooklyn Cyclones, 20-4, at Stags Ballpark. Whitaker went 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 5. Bob Ojeda got the win, improving to 2-0. He held the Cyclones to 1 earned run on 5 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 2. The win takes Milwaukee to 3-2.
Milwaukee left fielder Joe Vitiello contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the first. With two down, he hit a curveball into center field for a 2-run single. It was his 5th hit of the season and put the Otters ahead, 4-0.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Vitiello. "And not try to do too much."
