Smith Delivers Clutch At-Bat for Brooklyn in Walk-Off Win
|
Ballpark of Fremont was the site of a competitive game between the Toledo Mud Hens and Brooklyn Cyclones.
The Brooklyn Cyclones had to overcome a big game from Toledo left fielder Tom Marsh to leave Ballpark of Fremont with a 5-4 victory. Marsh went 3-4 with a triple, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times. Frank Viola earned the win to go to 1-1. He allowed 2 earned runs on 9 hits, with 3 walks and 1 strikeout.
Dwight Smith went 1 for 3 with 2 walks for Brooklyn. In a tie game with two out in the bottom of the ninth, Smith came through with a run-scoring single. It put the Cyclones in front, 5-4.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Smith told the Brooklyn Bulletin.
Losses have been few and far between for the Mud Hens so far this season. Their record drops to 4-2.
