Twins Get Road Win, 7-1

Minnesota got an elite performance from starting pitcher Darren Oliver in taking a 7-1 decision over the Kansas City Royals. Gene Walter earned the save, his 1st, for the Twins. Minnesota, now 5-10, is off to a slow start.
Minnesota relied on the hitting of Brook Fordyce to pick up the win. The catcher clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Twins on top, 2-0. For the game, Fordyce had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Minnesota manager Darren Fischbach.
