Cubs Stymie Minnesota, Take 7-0 Win
|
Chicago got a strong outing from Jeff D. Robinson as the Cubs defeated the Minnesota Twins, 7-0, at Wrigley Field. The winning pitcher was Robinson, now 1-1. He tossed 7.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 7. The Twins fall to 7-8 and continue their wobbly start to the 1995 season.
Geronimo Pena hit a run-scoring triple off Darren Oliver in the bottom of the second, which put the Cubs in front, 1-0. Pena had 1 single, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 2 for 3.
"It's no secret that good defense follows around people who throw strikes," said Chicago manager Anthony Perez.
