Cubs Need Extras to Top Cardinals, Lead 3-2 in Series
With second baseman Geronimo Pena leading the charge, the Chicago Cubs got past the St. Louis Cardinals, 5-4, in extra innings in Game 5 of the League Championship today. Pena was 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 2 runs and scored once at Busch Stadium as Chicago managed to take to a 3-2 lead in the best-of-7 series.

Pena came through for Chicago with a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth. He hit a 2-2 fastball to center field, staking his team to a 5-4 lead.

"It was a good effort all around," said Pena.

The next game is scheduled for Friday at Wrigley Field in Chicago. Slated to start are Dave Fleming for St. Louis and Jeff D. Robinson for Chicago.
