St. Louis Win Evens Series at 3
The St. Louis Cardinals knotted up the League Championship at Wrigley Field today, thanks in large part to left fielder Stan Javier. Javier went 5-5 with 2 doubles and 3 singles as he overpowered the Chicago Cubs, enabling St. Louis to grab the 5-2 win and move into a 3-3 tie in the best-of-7 series.

The game turned with two out in the top of the eighth when Javier, who is a four-time All-Star, hit a run-scoring double. It propelled the Cardinals into the lead, 3-2.

"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Javier.

Game 7 is scheduled for tomorrow at Wrigley Field. Slated to start are Bill C. Swift for St. Louis and Randy Tomlin for Chicago.
