League Championship Game 1 Victory for Whitehurst and Seattle
The Seattle Pilots started the League Championship in style today, downing the visiting Colorado Rockies at Kingdome by a score of 6-2 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Pilots right-hander Wally Whitehurst was named player of the game after he threw 7 innings of 6-hit ball.

With two out in the bottom of the sixth, Harold Baines put Seattle in front, 5-2, with a 3-run home run. The Pilots went on to win the ballgame.

"Our guys are never satisfied," said Seattle manager Robert O'Neill.

The next game is scheduled for tomorrow at Kingdome. The scheduled starters for the game are Bob Ojeda for Colorado and Randy Johnson for Seattle.
