Pilots Hammered by Buhner, Drop Game 3 to Cubs
|
Riding the 2-hit performance of right fielder Jay Buhner, the Chicago Cubs stopped the visiting Seattle Pilots, 7-3, in Game 3 of the World Series today. Buhner hit 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice for the Cubs, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 2 games to 1.
The Cubs took a 7-0 lead in the bottom of the fifth inning. Facing Seattle hurler Alex Fernandez with two outs, Buhner hit a 3-run home run.
"We're happy," Buhner told reporters after the win. "When you're in the playoffs, you've got to treat every game like it could be your last."
The next game is scheduled for tomorrow in Chicago. Slated to start are Bryan Hickerson for Seattle and Randy Tomlin for Chicago.
