Extra-Inning Win by Swamp Foxes over Cyclones
|
The Brooklyn Cyclones got a superb performance from pitcher Steve W Sparks, but the Savannah Swamp Foxes still won the game, 8-6. Sparks was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 8 innings of 6-hit ball. Savannah reliever Dustin Hermanson picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Mike Sirotka took the loss. At 6-3, the Swamp Foxes have played well so far.
The game was at a stalemate until shortstop Chad Fonville came to bat in the top of the 11th. Facing Brooklyn pitcher Mike Sirotka, he hit a 2-2 curveball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Savannah on top, 7-6.
"Good win for us, tough loss for them," said Fonville.
