Hrbek Slugs Orioles to 8-5 Win
|
The Baltimore Orioles topped the New York Mets, 8-5, with first baseman Kent Hrbek playing a big role. Hrbek was 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the Orioles in the win. Roger McDowell picked up the save for Baltimore, his 3rd of the year. Losses have been rare for the Mets, who are now 10-3.
Also making an impact was left fielder Ron Gant, who drilled a 2-run home run in the bottom of the third inning for the Orioles. For the game, Gant was 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"Feels good to get the job done," Gant said after the game.
