Dairy Daddies Rally For Late Win Over Whalers
The Danville Dairy Daddies topped the Hartford Whalers, 5-4, in Atlantic action at Wolves Ballpark. The player of the game was Danville pitcher Roger Salkeld. Reliever Jay Witasick picked up the win. His record improves to 2-0. Chris Holt took the loss. The Whalers fall to 5-5 and continue their uneasy start to the 1997 season.

A crucial at-bat came with runners on 2nd and 3rd and two out in the top of the eighth inning. That's when third baseman Mike Blowers, who is tied for 4th in the ATL in RBI with 15, drew a walk. The Dairy Daddies went on to win.

"We had a good game plan," Salkeld said, "and we were able to execute it."
