Clippers Jolt Beasties with Late Rally
|
The Columbus Clippers overcame a good performance by Bluff City first baseman Paul Sorrento to knock off Bluff City, 5-4, at Ravens Ballpark. Sorrento was 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 runs. Columbus reliever Marc Wilkins picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Kevin Wickander took the loss. With the loss, Bluff City is 4-5.
The Clippers got a lift from center fielder Wendell Magee who had a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth inning off Brad Clontz. It was his 6th RBI of the season and put Columbus in front, 5-4.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Magee told the Columbus Chronicle.
