Moonshiners Solve Red Wings, 5-3
|
Fans who gathered at Torrance Grounds saw a good contest between the Asheville Moonshiners and Rochester Red Wings.
The Asheville Moonshiners picked up a win at Torrance Grounds, knocking off the Rochester Red Wings, 5-3. Starting pitcher Ken Cloude played a key role in the triumph. Cloude got the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 7 hits and walked 1 over 7.1 innings. Cloude allowed 3 earned runs. Mike Draper earned the save for Asheville, his 2nd.
With runs few and far between, the Moonshiners had to seize their opportunities when they came. One of the most important chances for Asheville came in the bottom of the second inning, when right fielder Darren Bragg delivered a 2-run double. The double was hit off Brian Keyser and made the score 3-0, Moonshiners. Bragg went 3 for 5 with 2 doubles. He drove in 2 runs.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Bragg.
With the loss, Rochester sinks to 4-5.
