Multi-HR Game for Benitez in 12-3 Win
The Asheville Moonshiners defeated the Rochester Red Wings, 12-3. Earning player of the game honors was left fielder Yamil Benitez, who hit 2 home runs, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3. The Red Wings fall to 4-6 and continue their wobbly start to the 1997 season.

Deivi Cruz had a big run-scoring double for the Moonshiners in the bottom of the second inning. With Asheville leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a curveball from Tom Urbani and stroked the double to left-center. It was his 2nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Moonshiners ahead, 2-0.

"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Benitez told the Asheville Daily News.
