Whalers Prevail, 5-3, Over Milwaukee
|
The Milwaukee Otters got a sterling performance from third baseman Cal Ripken Jr., but the Whalers still prevailed, 5-3. Ripken Jr. was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He was 3 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs. Cory Lidle, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 4th save. With the loss, Milwaukee falls to 7-5.
Hartford used the bat of Carter Haney to capture the win. The shortstop jacked a 3-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Whalers ahead, 5-2. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a dandy.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Haney.
