Behind a solid performance from first baseman David Ortiz, the Danville Dairy Daddies defeated the Columbus Clippers, 6-3. Ortiz was 3-5 with a home run and 2 doubles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Dairy Daddies. The Dairy Daddies, now 8-4, have played some good baseball in the early going.
In the top of the first, Ortiz pounced on a first pitch cutter from Glendon Rusch and hit a 2-run home run. It put Danville on top, 2-0.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Ortiz. "And not try to do too much."
