Mud Hens Take Tight Tilt, 3-2
|
Fans who came to Stags Ballpark watched the Toledo Mud Hens and the Rochester Red Wings fight to the finish.
Toledo beat Rochester at Stags Ballpark, eking out a 3-2 win. The win was due in large part to pitcher Jeff Keener, who earned player of the game honors. The winner was Greg Hansell in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Joe Ausanio took the loss.
Had Alex Diaz not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Diaz hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Mud Hens.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Keener. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
The Mud Hens, now 9-5, have been playing some good baseball.
