The Rochester Red Wings electrified Ballpark of Ft. Lauderdale with a thrilling, walk-off win.
The Rochester Red Wings downed the Bluff City Beasties, 6-5, at Ballpark of Ft. Lauderdale. The Red Wings were led by Darren Reed, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The Beasties fall to 7-7 and continue their uneasy start to the 1997 season.
Tim Unroe was the walk-off hero for Rochester. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Red Wings first baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Bluff City manager . "But we decided not to take it."
