Cyclones Top Whalers to Even Record
|
Despite a fine performance by shortstop Wil Cordero, the Hartford Whalers suffered a 9-6 loss to the Brooklyn Cyclones. Cordero was 4-4 with 2 doubles, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Reliever Steve Reed picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Brad Cornett took the loss. The Whalers fall to 7-9 and continue their lethargic start to the 1995 season.
Brooklyn took a 7-6 lead on Casey Candaele's 17th hit of the season. The run-scoring single, which Candaele hit in the top of the seventh, left Hartford pitcher Brad Cornett shaking his head.
"Nice to put this one in the win column," said Candaele.
