Late Rally by Swamp Foxes Secures Win
|
Toledo left fielder Tom Marsh was sensational. He was 2-5 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Savannah beat the Mud Hens, 7-6. Marsh was named the player of the game despite the loss. Savannah reliever Ron Rightnowar picked up the win, bumping his record to 1-0. Mike James was collared with the loss. Savannah, now 11-6, has gotten their season off to a good start.
The Swamp Foxes got a big at-bat from catcher Sandy Martinez. For the game, Martinez was 3-5 with 3 singles. In the bottom of the ninth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 27th hit of the season gave Savannah a 7-6 lead.
"This joint was rocking," said Martinez.
