Simon Slugs Moonshiners to 7-4 Win
|
Moonshiners first baseman Randall Simon put his stamp on his team's 7-4 win over the Bluff City Beasties. Simon belted 2 home runs. He drove in 6 runs and scored twice for Asheville in the contest. Ken Cloude, the winner, improved to 2-0. He held Bluff City to 2 earned runs on 6 hits over 7 innings, while racking up 8 strikeouts. Getting the save was Mike Draper, his 4th.
Making an impact for the home team was Aaron Boone. In the bottom of the fifth, the 24-year old third baseman had a run-scoring walk. That made the score 4-2, Moonshiners.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Simon. "And not try to do too much."
The Beasties drop to 9-10 and continue their inconsistent start to the 1997 season.
