Pirates Jolt Sun Rays with Late Rally
|
Pirates shortstop Jose Valentin put his stamp on his team's 6-5 win over the Orlando Sun Rays. Valentin was 2-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 3 runs for Pittsburgh in the contest. The save was credited to Bryan Harvey, his 5th. The loss drops Orlando to 9-6.
The Pirates got an important contribution from first baseman Andy Van Slyke, who in the top of the ninth knocked a 0-1 slider into left-center for a solo home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Pirates ahead, 6-5.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Valentin said after the game.
