Mud Hens Drop Clippers with Late Score
It was a good time at Stags Ballpark, where fans came to watch the Columbus Clippers and Toledo Mud Hens get after it.

The Mud Hens faced a stiff challenge from Columbus pitcher Jeff Pico, but persevered to claim a win at Stags Ballpark. The final score was 5-3. Pico went 7 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. The winner was Toledo reliever Richie Lewis, now 1-0. The loser was Mike Fetters. Mike James earned the save for Toledo, his 6th of the year.

J.R. Phillips had a go-ahead home run for Toledo in the bottom of the eighth inning. With two out and runners on 1st and 2nd, the 24-year old right fielder hit a 3-run home run off Bryan Eversgerd. His 3rd home run of the season made the score 5-3.

"I'm just happy to help the team win," Phillips told the Toledo Herald.

The Clippers fall to 9-9 and continue their uneasy start to the 1995 season.
