Kotsay gets 3 RBI, Whalers Move to 11-7
Hartford center fielder Mark Kotsay was a significant contributor in his team's 14-10 triumph over the Brooklyn Cyclones. He was 2-4 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3 for Hartford. The winner was Brad Cornett in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Jose Cabrera took the loss. Mark Petkovsek locked down his 2nd save.

A crucial at-bat came with runners on 2nd and 3rd and two out in the top of the fifth inning. That's when right fielder Alex Ochoa, who is tied for 10th in the ATL in triples with 1, drew a walk. The Whalers went on to win.

"We're our own worst enemy right now," said Brooklyn skipper .

Brooklyn, at 1-17, is off to a dreadful start in 1997.
