Dairy Daddies Deal Whalers Painful Loss
The Danville Dairy Daddies beat the Hartford Whalers, 9-8, at Kernels Ballpark. Henry Mercedes was recognized as player of the game for his performance. He was 3-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. The 25-year old catcher was a menace to Hartford all day. John Costello picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Billy Wagner was tagged with the loss. The Whalers fall to 8-12 and continue their uninspiring start to the 1995 season.

The Dairy Daddies got a lift from left fielder Todd Hollandsworth, who in the bottom of the tenth hit a run-scoring single. His 39th hit of the season put the Dairy Daddies on top, 9-8.

In postgame comments, Mercedes said, "I think we gave the fans their money's worth."
