Suns Win at Brooklyn, 6-5
|
Brooklyn left fielder Dwight Smith had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 6-5, to Jacksonville at Ballpark of Fremont. Smith belted 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Bill Pulsipher earned the win for Jacksonville. He lasted 6 innings, allowing 2 earned runs on 7 hits, while striking out 7. With the win, he raised his record to 5-0. The Suns, now 18-4, have been on a roll in the early going.
It could have been a different outcome for Jacksonville, had it not been for Carlos A. Hernandez, the 27-year old catcher . Hernandez contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put Jacksonville up, 4-2.
"It wasn't our best performance," said Hernandez, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
