Losing Streak Continues for Cyclones with 15-6 Loss to Clippers
|
The Columbus Clippers beat the Brooklyn Cyclones, 15-6, at Mules Ballpark. The win was largely due to the efforts of shortstop Ed Giovanola, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3 for 6 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Chris Carpenter went 6.2 innings for Columbus to pick up the win. The right-hander was charged with 6 earned runs. He scattered 8 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 4. His record improves to 2-1. Brooklyn, at 1-20, has had a dismal start to the season.
Tilson Brito went 1 for 3 with 2 walks and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 3 runs for Columbus. The 24-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Jose Cabrera. It was his 5th RBI of the season.
"Been a rough stretch for us," said Brooklyn manager .
